According to Adecco, a company that specializes in matching up the right personnel with the right position at hand, 92 percent of company executives surveyed believe that workers are not as skilled as they need to be. It Affects Even the Largest Companies

No company is safe from a skills gap problem. For instance, the online giant Amazon announced in July, 2019 announced that they were spending $700 million to retrain a third of its own workforce. This means that 100,000 of its employees are to be taught new skills by the year 2025 to make them compatible with what Amazon is trying to accomplish.

Currently, Amazon has 20,000 jobs available for technical roles that they are having great difficulty filling. And they certainly are not the only ones. Companies are recognizing in this day and age of technology that degrees are mattering less and skills are of the main importance. Businesses and its executives are more interested in the skill set that future workers can bring to the table rather than a degree with their name on it that does not demonstrate they have the abilities currently needed.

So What Do the Companies Have to Do?

Since all of these companies are having a tough time finding the right workers, they are trying to create the workers they need basically from scratch. It is reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that in just the United States alone, it will cost $34 billion to reskill about 1.4 million workers that are in danger of losing their jobs because of automation taking effect in the factories. These numbers are actually on the low side though as other institutes are expecting it to cost much more and for many millions of workers instead of just over one million.

Don’t wait too long before your employer comes and informs you that your abilities are no longer needed with the company. Take the initiative and be proactive before they decide to hand you the termination papers.
